Pepper Ann wants to go to the Springtime Late-night Flashback Jam, but Lydia won't let her stay out that late. She sneaks out and goes anyway, then writes an article about it for Milo and Stewart's 'zine, "Within the Nutshell".
Everyone loves it because they can identify with it, but Lydia finds the article and grounds her for sneaking out. Pepper Ann insists that her mom doesn't understand, but then she finds one of Lydia's old journals in the attic and realizes they're more alike than she thought.
Have you ever felt like you were just waiting for that moment when you change? When you become the person you want to be?
Milo: Less central nervous. More cardiopulmonary.
Milo: Stewart! Stop the presses! P.A. kicked it cardiopulmonary!
Lydia:I had no idea where you were! A goal post could have fallen on you!
- Within the Nutshell is never mentioned again after the episode, presumably because of the circulation plunge.
- This is the only time we hear Hush speak.
- The red-haired girl who apologizes for making Pepper Ann feel uncomfortable appears again in "Bye Bye Trinket".
